New in 2012, this UV-C Water Purification System is standard on all models. If you have an older hot tub, but want the newest technology in the water purification category, you’ll want to purchase the CLEARRAY aftermarket kit. This kit is retrofittable to all 2002 and later models.
There is some misinformation out there on what CLEARRAY is and what it does. The CLEARRAY system uses UV-C technology to neutralize waterborne pathogens. This means that bacteria can no longer reproduce and spread throughout the hot tub. This also means CLEARRAY will also reduce the amount of sanitizer you use in your hot tub, providing you with clean, fresh clear water. This same technology has been used by several different industries to control the spread of bacteria. For instance, many bottling facilities use UV-C. So do city water treatment plants, medical offices, and even the swimming pool industry has used UV-C on commercial pools for years.
What it does not do however is use any sort of gas like UV ozones systems of past. It also does not actually kill bacteria. For this reason, you still need to maintain some level of sanitizer in your hot tub’s water. This technology reduces the level of sanitizer required to maintain clear water to same levels as that of tap water. ClearRay can also be used in conjunction with both ProClear Mineral Cartridge and/or ClearZone CD Ozone for the cleanest, softest water possible. This is an excellent choice for hot tubs with high bather load or lots of use. No more drying out, no more red-eye. CLEARRAY is standard on all new Jacuzzi Brand Hot Tubs from our J-210 all the way up to our J-500 Collection. However, ask us about installation on older models and be on your way to clean, fresh, clear water.
