OWNING & CARING FOR YOUR NEW SAN DIEGO HOT TUB
If you have recently added a new Jacuzzi Hot Tub to your household amenities, you’re undoubtedly looking forward to long, luxurious soaks where the aches, pains, and stresses of the day melt away. Proper care and maintenance of your hot tub will ensure that you’ll get to enjoy this scenario without interruptions for many years to come. Here’s what you need to know about owning and caring for a new hot tub.
Testing the Water
Performing routine water testing will ensure that the water’s sanitizer balance remains at optimal levels. This process should be done once a week, but it won’t take much of your time. You’ll simply dip a test strip in the water for a period of a couple seconds and wait fifteen seconds to ensure that you get an accurate reading. If the test strip indicates that the water has a low sanitizer level, add the recommended dosage of sanitizer for the size and usage of your hot tub. This will generally be about one half ounce.
Oxidizing the Water
You should oxidize the water in your hot tub once per week. This is done by adding a significant amount of oxidizer/sanitizer to the water for the purpose of destroying any possible contaminants, such as microbes or bacteria, and the process should only take about a minute. Follow the instructions carefully on the products that you’re using to treat the water, and always purchase good-quality hot tub chemicals, like SpaGuard, for best results. Your Aqua Paradise San Diego Store will be able to advise you on which products will work best for your particular make and model.
Cleaning the Filters
Cleaning the filters on your hot tub is another important maintenance task that will help ensure that the water in your tub is as clean as possible. This will take you an average of 10 minutes and should be performed on a monthly basis. Simply remove the filter, put a secondary one in place to protect the water, and clean the filter thoroughly using a high-pressure hose.
Covering Your Hot Tub
Keeping your hot tub properly covered when it’s not in use will keep foreign debris out of the water, provide insulation and heat retention, and keep curious pets and children from accidently taking a tumble into the water. Make sure that the cover fits tightly in order to minimize heat loss, and replace the cover if it becomes damaged or begins to show signs of extreme wear and tear. You should also condition your hot tub cover once per month with a product designed to protect vinyl against the damaging effects of UV rays.
Your new San Diego hot tub is an investment in your quality of life, so make certain that you faithfully follow maintenance procedures and you’ll receive years of luxury and relaxation.
